Dear,
What do you think the impact distance of new MAT around you? urban area, but not city downtown, not rural area,
1mile? or 3mile? 5mile? 10mile?
in other words, how close the new mat coming in your area, you would feel it "competitive" situation? and impact your biz?

I am in an rural area. My nearest competitor is 3 blocks away. He is the lowest price anywhere in the state, county, nation, world.
Hoping he will sell out to me so I can have better control of the environment.

Jeff;
Sorry for the long delay.
His pricing is:
Tops .75
30# front load $2.00 with a prewash included.
Dryers 30# .25 for 10 to 12 minutes. (some are longer than others)
50 # .25 for 8 minutes.
.25 to start on all dryers.
Could not check cool down time and temps because of age of equipment.
Vended soap .75
Like I stated all he wants to do is pay for his utilities on his mat and his daughters hair salon which is attached to his building.
Two other places are in a mobile home/RV park. They only have smaller machines (tops at $1.00 to $1.25 and dryers at $1.00). However their utilities are part of the overall park charge. So they have a real sweet deal for utilities.
Yes I am the price leader but the others are not following.
Its time to raise prices again, even though I receive the lions share of the business.

Competing on price is a losing strategy! Find another strategy.

I am not competing on price because no one else is as high as I am.
As all my customers know larger machines, more machines, cleaner brighter, friendlier, convenient, safer, attendant and many other amenities.
It feels good and looks good.

This guy's pricing is insane. Truthfully I doubt he is truly covering his expenses at these prices.
How clean is his mat? How conveniently located is it? How old is his equipment? Is is properly heated/air conditioned? Is there adequate seating? A restroom? A change machine?
Is there adequate parking? Is it well lit? It is 'safe'?
All of these are areas you could use to set a new mat apart from this guy.

That is why I have the Lions share of the business, because of all the amenities I serve my customers with and he/they does/do not.
Its a wonderful feeling.
