How do owners handle refunds with the smart card system? We have a brand new mat with full time attendant... Wondering if we credit their card, mail them a check, never give cash???? Thanks for any input!

I always give credit on their card which is about twice a month. Usually the snack machine didn't drop something or customer error. Twice in the past 19 months I have refunded the value on customers card since they were moving away.

Some owners do not like giving cash out, I don't mind.

With a smart card system I would only give credit since a smart cards value can be altered. Mag stripe cards are more secure with the value kept in a database on site. Someone may copy the card, but can only get the balance of the copied card.

I think it is Pete Fritz that gives stamps as refunds.

We have a $3 refundable deposit for each card. They buy it for $5 and it has a $2 value on it. I refund anything under $5 left on the card plus the deposit if the card is in good shape. Works for us and customers are less likely to bolt.

I don't charge a deposit for my cards.

We have the smart card system where the customer buys the card for $5 with a $3 vaule remaining on
the card (the card cost $2). If there is a problem with the card usually the netmaster sw system can read
the card to determine what the value is of the card. Some customers have $40+ dollars on there card so
we refund them that amount on a new card (that's assuming the netmaster system can read the problem
card). If the netmaster system cannot read the card we replace the bad card with a card with a $3 vaule on it.
We rarely refund in cash.
