CLA members can access the Water Evaporation Tool Kit here: http://coinlaundry.org/resources/Water_Evaporation_Allowance_Toolkit.cfm
It contains the following:
A Backgrounder:
Understanding the issues is essential to presenting them in a way that is both persuasive and accurate. The Backgrounder gives you all the data you need to understand the issues, from both the perspective of the sewage authority and the perspective of the coin laundry operator. You’ll not only be an authority on the subject, you’ll have the confidence to explain its benefits from both sides. Such confidence is the key to success!
PowerPoint Presentation:
For most sewer authorities, the decision to grant an allowance must come from its Board of Directors. Yet most people feel uncomfortable attending a formal board meeting and having to stand up and speak before it. Your kit includes a complete presentation that lays out the case for your sewer authority board to grant you a Water Evaporation Allowance. All you need to do is print out copies for the Board and use the speaker’s notes to walk them through it during the meeting. No need to worry about knowing what to say or how to say it!
Sample Letters:
One of the most important parts of dealing with any organization is remembering that no matter how “official” and “corporate” it may seem, it’s still made up of people. And people are more responsive and considerate when treated with respect and understanding. Sending a formal letter requesting time before the proper authorities is an excellent way of showing respect. And sending a letter of thanks after being given that time is an excellent way to continue the positive impression you made at the meeting. Your kit includes sample copies of both letters, easily customizable for your use.
Presentation Speaker’s Notes:
The presentation contains all the key information you’ll need to show the Board. But you don’t want just to read each slide to them. Included in your kit are what are called “speaker’s notes:” notes you can use both in your preparation before the meeting as well as during the meeting as you present the slides. They also give suggestions about what questions you may receive and how to answer them.
Action Plan, Checklist and Worksheet:
A step-by-step action plan (including instructions on how to use the kit), a checklist to manage the process, and a worksheet designed to help you estimate the kind of savings an allowance would give you are included.
