I saw newspaper(korean), there is coin laundry chain stores in South Korea, I don't know how old, but it looks like just started a couple of years ago, they use Dexter and whirpool, operated as frenchise style,
I believe someone who did laundromat biz in USA came back to his home country and started this biz, good idea, they mimic some of USA laundromats, but some interior from Japan style as well, small size, around 3~7 washers, 3~5 stack dyers...their name is coinwash24, their web-site is www.coinwash.co.kr or koreacla.com
( they use kCLA, but they don't have real CLA, just mimic usa's cla, Ha Ha Ha)

BTW, in Korea, for example, most people uses in-house laundry facility, most korean people didn't like to spend money for wash&dry, they did by themselves, but they use Dry Cleaner store, so I don't know how this coinwash24 frenchise stores doing biz well or not..they charge $2~$2.5 for washer, and dryer done usually with $2( a little cheap).....
I know in Japan this kind of small self service laundry store has been long time, but in korea, this trend is new...all those store are "unattended"

Interesting that the negative is reversed on the picture. I thought only Arabic was read from right to left. Ha Ha.

No, Korean is from left to right, same as English....
I think if someone do the similiar biz in China, the fist few guy will make money...
and whenever new concept or new biz come, short time later(one or two year) many followerer open same type biz here and there in Korea,Japan,China, so the best strategy is selling it when high in market.
You can't read korean, but see some pictures...

I think that was the dinner special I had last night at the House of Hunan. Those gals can film a video or porno at my mat anytime.

Xiong,

Now that's one big over-sudsing problem. The suds are half way up the building's walls!

Seriously though, what gross sales figure is this place designed for?

I love the location - stuck in an alley behind some sort of factory? Maybe the workers pile into the laundromat after their factory shift. Another is setting on blocks in a parking lot.

Are the utilities supplied via long extension cord and garden hose?

I have a great idea for a name. How about "Shoebox Laundrette"?

...and do they offer a "Big Bill Bonus"... or a big anything bonus?
...I guess the Cards aren't the only things "Easy" in that store...
I've heard of a spin-cycle being a housewife's best friend, but that's a 200g Express extract cycle... hardcore!

Okay, there are just too many possibilities here. I think I'll quit while you all still think I have a small bit of decency of professionalism about me!

I wonder do they have bathrooms and where is all that sewer going? Perhaps in the parking lot so people have to step through it.

more like a "portable laundromat" :D

that's actually something to think about, why get stuck in one location as in the current industry now?

I think Proctor/Gamble has a portable laundromat on the road now. It looks like a trailer (to be hitched up to a tractor, making an 18-wheel rig) and contains a row of washers and one of dryers. They wheel it up to a disaster area and offer free laundry service. I don't know how they hook up to utilities. I think the outside is painted to look like a giant box of Tide.

location is the most important criteria for a laundromat, so this concept of being able to move the mat to wherever it is needed....isn't that awesome :D

these days, there are combo washer and dryer machines, so there should be adequate room in a 20 ft or 40 ft container to setup a decent mat in these super strong boxes :)

Xiong,

Sure it would be great to just pick up a laundromat with a giant truck-crane and load it on a semi trailer and move it to a new location but it's a lot more complicated than that. There might be utility hook-up fees to pay. Certainly, the sewer, water, electric, phone and possibly cable systems would have to be re-connected as well.

Make no mistake, even a perfected washer/dryer machine would not accomodate more customers than today's separate washers and dryers. You would have to install as many washer/dryer machines as washers and dryers together in a contemporary laundromat.

Xiong

yeah, the most difficulty i believe would be power for the machines--if only could just plug in the cord :D

water....would it work if you had your own water tank?

sewer....do you have to pre-treat them before they are allowed to enter the rest?

if P & G has one already, does anyone know where to get more info on it?

why not have washers on 20 ft and dryers on the other 20 ft so have more space too, then folding tables could be foldable from the wall
