Have a dryer that appears to have tar run through it but is not cleaning up well. Any recommendations on how to get this cleaned up?

Spray a product called goo-gone on the tar. Goo-gone can be found in places like Home Depot.

While your at Home Depot, pick up an aerosol can of Goof-Off. Run the dryer on low for about 3-4 minutes then spray the Goof-Off on the Tar. Wait a minute then wipe clean.
Use a wet rag to wipe down the tub when done then air dry the dryer.
Be Careful, the product is flammable.

Pete,
If you get a chance, buy a can of the aerosol. You may be surprised of how much easier it is to use than the pour out can.

FYI - another thing that works great to remove tar and such is paint thinnner.
