Well, I have bought Laundromat and am trying to get it cleaned up. Besides getting out the toothbrush and toothpicks (which I have been doing), what is the best way to get into the hard to reach places on the top of the top loaders. There use to be a cleaning lady that worked there (quit as soon as I bought the place. She had been there for 11 years). For years the dirt was just been wiped from the surface to the cracks and corners. Now I am trying to get all those cracks and corners cleaned and find a way to KEEP them that way. I have thought a using a commercial Steamer. Kind of like the Sunnzer Steam (sorry not sure of the spelling). It uses high pressure steam to blast the crud out and also disinfects the surface as well. Any suggestion?

I have a steam buggy, it works well for the type of clean you mention. It can leave stains on the stainless steel, so be careful. Really, it does great.

A different approach is to just take the machine apart - cleaning is then a breeze. For example on my Speed Queen tops, the front panel thingy comes off in a jiffy and you can just wipe the accumulated crud off. You only need to do that deep cleaning once a year or so.
