I just bought a laundromat that has 20 year old SpeenQween dryers. They look very dirty but when I went to clean them I found that is was rusting.

Any ideas on giving dryers a new face lift. I thought of using some type of rust decater (sorry not sure the spelling) and then repainting them. But rust decaters are flamable and I am not sure I should use them on the dryers?

Why not just replace them. The customers will be happy and so will you. You will save money on maintenance and more importantly the new ones may save you enough in energy costs to actually pay for themselfs.

I really wish that I could do that right now. But all my extra dollars are being spent on things that don't work or are on the brink of breaking down. We will be replacing the dryers but just not at this time. The dryers work pretty good and have not had any problems with them so far. Thanks for the push in the right direction. I think I need to start looking at costs. do you know if any sites were I could research, rebuilt, refurbished or remanufactures Stacked Dryers (any brand)?

There are lots of places that have used / refurbished dryers - just look in the back of a recent issue of the CLA Journal. Others may disagree, but I would suggest you buy only new dryers. Washers are OK to get used / rebuilt, but dryers are a whole different animal in my mind. You should get new dryers that are energy efficient rather than someone elses old gas hog.

Kirby is right only buy new dryers. Your gas savings and depreciation may pay for them.

If you have an auto body shop in town have them paint the dryer panels. You can pull the faces of the dryers off, the have them painted. If you are very good, you could do it yourself. The rust stuff is not a big deal, when it is dry it is not so flamable.

Whether new or used one oft times stretch financies to purchase a laundromat. And because we
are just getting started it's difficult to assertain income early on which could aid in making the new
dryer purchase decision easier to make. Refirb seems to be the way to go now but buying new or
newer dryers should be your furture plans. Meanwhile, try to contact SQ or a distributor in your
area for ways to re-firb existing units.

Refurbishing my old dryers would be a good idea; however. I have extremely high ceilings. And people are always waiting for dryers to come available. I would like to utilize the space better with stacked dryers.

Great Feedback Everyone. Thanks!!!
