I just did some wash and fold for an animal shelter today. They told me when I got there to pick it up that the most they could pay was $100, I did the full amount and just wrote the rest off as a donation - the hundred bucks paid for about 1/3rd of what they had.

Congrats! That's very nice of you and your shop to do this. Hope the publicity of it pays dividend in the future.

Just mentioned it here, really have no plans to make it public to try to capitalize on it. I did it as a good deed, not a means to someother ends. I also give half-price laundry cards to a local homeless organization. These are homeless that are trying to get on their feet - not drunk bums. They are nice people that fell on hard luck, so I don't mind them in the store and it is nice to be able to help them out with a needed service that they cannot get anywhere else. Again, I state it here only.

Howard,
You're a kind and thoughtful entrepreneur. We should all try to emulate your selective giving approach during these times that can be trying for everyone.

I recently received an email poll from Michelle of the CLA that basically is along that line of our coin laundry businesses also filling "true needs" within our communities & beyond. I am going to fill out this survey because I know from past experience that we also need "true credibility" as an industry along the lines of sharing in worthwhile ways!
