Has anyone out there install recessed (round) lights in a laundromat? I mean the type that are commonly found in a house. The location I am planning to lease had a finished ceiling and I don't like the look of the typical 4' florescent fixture. I know that they are OK but I am trying for a little more modern and high end look AND I don't want to drop the ceiling height.

I replaced my exposed bulbs with recessed flourescent panels in my drop ceiling...made a big difference in my opinion. I'd say go for it but try and get the most energy efficient bulb design you can.

Burley,

Recessed lights are considered more of a task light since they are more focused in one general area. You would almost need one over every piece of equipment to get enough light. They also generate more heat. Fluorescent lights are much more economical to run and you can get nice looking fixtures that use T8 bulbs (1 inch) that are very efficient and smaller and mount to the ceiling.
