Does anybody out there using a card system have a bonus wash?
say a customer pays for 10 washes and gets one free.

I haven't done that one yet, but it's the next card-based promo I'll go for...
I know of a few stores that don't charge for their cards, but keep people using one card by bonusing the washes every 5 or 10 spins using the same card.

I give a free wash after each 15 on the same card. It does wonders in stopping people from throwing away cards that have no balance left on them. I think this is a much better option than giving extra value when insert large bills. When you do that you are just reducing your prices by whatever percentage you offer to every customer. By giving something after every "X" washes you are building loyalty and only giving something to repeat customers not those that come once or twice.

Remind me which card system you use... Are you implementing the bonus wash as a free start after 15 starts, or as a monetary credit equal to 1/15th of the cost of a start? What's to keep a customer from using 15 cheap tops or doubles, then using the free wash in the 80 or 125 lb machines?

I have an Easycard system and I have it set so that each wash start (of any size) earns you one credit. Fifteen credits one bonus start, which can only be used on the double washers. Thus, the free wash is only a double wash no matter what washers you used to earn it. Its not a huge value, but customers love it.

I have not actually looked at my sign about the bonus in quite some time, but it says something to the effect of earn a free double wash after 15 washes of anysize on the same card.

"Credits" to earn starts... that's exactly what I was thinking of doing, but I can't figure out the config. Any chance of sharing some insight about how this is set up on your EC server? Are "credits" a feature of the old DOS system that us Linux users don't have access to, or am I just missing something in my bonus configurations? (If you're on a Linux system programming with the web page in Windows, can you post a screen shot or two of the config?)

I am running the DOS system, but the newer system should have the same features. Your best bet is to give Russ Cooper at Easycard a call, he is the Guru and can easily talk you through it.
