View Full Version : Stolen laundry carts
Can anybody give me a good idea on how to prevent laundry carts from being stolen?? I already have the carts that are taller than my door, but they steal them anyway.

Install Lojack on them ;~}
Do you have attendants? If not you might try a camera system so at least you have something to show the police. Aside from that if you own the property you could install pilars around the outside of the door that would prevent the carts from being taken outside.

I investigated this very problem and found a solution, albeit, a pricey one, at Smart and
Final Stores in Los Angeles. There are some limitations so you have to weigh the advantages over the price. If you're interested in the phone number, email me and I'll stop by on my way to "the 'mat" tomorrow so that you can check it out yourself. My email address: BEVERLYKAY@ATT.NET
Howard, I do have cameras, but the police around here don't care. I have called on several occasions and if I am lucky enough to get anyone here withing 8 hours, they tell me I must make a citizen's arrest and I (yes I) must present a case to the DA. I am thinking about the pillar idea; however.

I budget a few hundred a year for stolen carts, so if nobody steals one in a year I figure I made money <G> The times I found one missing i walked around the neighborhood and found them sometimes. You can put up signs, like "It is illegal to take carts off the premises" or "$100 reward for info on stolen carts" You also have to engrave the cart with your name so you can prove it was yours. You might try having metal signs made and attaching them securly to the cart somehow. Some one takes it home and his friends see property of X l'mat does not look as cool. It is a problem. Buy cheap ones if you loose that many. YOu can't block the door with posts, then you prevent wheelchair access and now you got a whole 'nother problem.
