Anyone have information on a good internet kiosk.
One which can utilize a mag card system like Easy Card?

Again, I am interested in setting up an internet Kiosk with a bill acceptor. Anyone know of a decent system?

No help here...although I have seen an ad for one somewhere. I imagine you have already tried an internet search?

I have trouble believing it could be a money maker, but who knows.

Okay, I did a search for you (and for me since I was curious about it too). The paragraph pasted below is a reply to an email I sent to a company called Streak Technology inquiring about their systems...too rich for my blood.

A laundromat is a perfect location for an internet access kiosk. Anytime you
have people waiting, the access to information, email, games, etc. is a plus.

We have an internet access kiosk for $8,995.00. It accepts cash or credit cards
and has the following features:

Surf the internet
Video & picture email
Prepaid phone & cell cards
Wireless Hot Spot (optional)
Games
and more features to be added.

We are the designer and muanfacturer of these units. We also offer full remote
management support and a web based reporting system so you can see the amount
of activity in each of the categories.

Have any of you thought about providing your clients with free wi-fi internet as a marketing tool to attract clients?

I already have DSL in the store for the video feed, for $500 in equipment I now can offer free wi-fi for the students with their laptops. Now I just need to set it up.

Free Wi-Fi would be out of the question. Demographics in my area indicates not many people have lap tops. Although there is a community college nearby it has no campus so there is no one looking to wash clothes.

Azkid, thanks for looking further. Your info is definitely on the high side but thats because of all the additional features, phone card, video email, etc. Too many people, young & old, carry a cell phone and the extra features just aren't necessary.

I was looking into a sit down booth with internet access which accepts either dollars and or the easy card debit system. I am confident if someone is waiting for clothes to dry or if they have their kid with them that they would want to access the internet to retrieve email or research a site. I have heard of these basic systems running around $2,500 to $3,500. At $1 for 10 minutes that can sure add up. I have a couple of contacts and since I can't seem to find any systems cheaper than that I am gambling on it so it will be a part of my mat.

Duane,

I was thinking about adding free wi-fi, but I am concerned about people using it for DOSA, as I have two universities nearby. One thing I was considering doing was to put the access point on a timer to make sure it turns off during off hours, as I don't want people sitting in the parking lot surfing.

Just my two cents...
