We just received a notice that St Paul is no longer writing insurance for the coin laundry association.Wondering if anyone knows of a good company with reasonable rates?

Hello DanD: The letter you've received from St. Paul is a formality on their part to meet their legal obligations for proper notice of non-renewal. It is true that St. Paul is no longer willing to insure coin laundries, however CLA Insurance has established relationships with Zurich, Safeco, Hartford, CNA, and a surplus lines carrier to replace our St. Paul program.

CLA Insurance will provide you with a renewal quote from one of our new carriers approximately 30 days prior to the expiration date of the policy. If there is a case where, due to underwriting restrictions or geographic restrictions, we cannot offer you a renewal with one of our carriers, we will contact you in advance to give you the maximum time to "shop" your coverage elsewhere. If you have further questions regarding the letter you've received, please call the CLA Insurance office at 800-346-8424, or feel free to email me at brian@coinlaundry.org. Thanks.

My understanding from others is that St. Paul IS still writing insurance for laundromats, they have just discontinued their program business through the CLA - this allows them to be much more selective in what risks they take. However, the carriers that CLA is working with are just as competitive. I recently got my renewal through one of the replacement companies and for the first year in many the premiums remained flat.

where areyou located DanD? CLA can not obtain insurance in some markets, such as Florida. You should make calls to local agents soon.

Last year I switched from St. Paul to Zürich.

Better coverage, less deductible, half the premium.
