My prices are already on the high-end, so anytime I raise, it's just to absorb an increase in utility costs. If my cost for water goes up by $.03 per wash, I can pass on a $.03 price increase.
On dryers, a store charging a quarter for 6 minutes as I do could t get away with a $.50 or $1.00 increase, while a store charging $1.25 for a full cycle of 35-40 minutes might increase by as much as $1.00.... It all depends on your store and market...I don't think I can tell you my magic formula and have it work for you.

How much increase would be shock to customer, do you think?
Every region is different. Are you a price follower or a price leader? Don't worry about what the customers think. You have to price for a profit. If your costs go up then you must pass them along to your customers. There is alot more to it than polling us to see what we think you should do.

If you don't already know the acurate breakdown for your various costs...all of your costs, then first put them together. Check with utilities, insurance, labor, etc and determine as best possible when your costs might be going up, and if they would effect your current pricing plan. Once you know your costs, and you know the time it takes to produce your income, price your product to make it worth your while and keep you in business.
It just does not make long term sense to spend your time and money to simply pay your entire effort, or more, out to the LLD.
