City I want to put a coin laundry in is asking for 12 mo's water bills from 3 different operations and the number of washers in each. Any suggestions on how to get this information? Has anyone else had to do this?

What is it they are after? This seems very strange. Can you give us some more background.

I'm sure we have all heard this before, i think they are trying to figure out how much extra stress a New mat is going to put on the water supply & sewer system.
Some Counties are trying to say an extra Mat will be a burden on the City is my guess?

Mike,

Despite what the municipality may think, a new laundromat reduces utility demand rather than increasing it. A laundromat does not cause an increase in dirty laundry that must be cleaned. The dirty laundry that already does exist is already being cleaned somewhere. Most likely, a lot of it is being cleaned in inefficient home washers and electric dryers. A new laundromat offers an option for that laundry to be cleaned in very efficient and very effective equipment that was not previously available. So the local utility should have no concern about a laundromat putting undue stress on the water or sewer plant. If anything, it'll probably reduce stress.

Larry,
I agree,
I was just guessing that might be what the City is after?

Many small towns out here are under State order to build or rehab their water treatment plants. If they don't, the state comes in, does the job, then bills the city. That property I was trying to buy last week had no SDC assessed when it was built, but now there is $4000 water and $7000 sewer SDC in the same town to pay for the new plant.

My guess is the city in question doesn't have an engineer capable of converting gallons of washer water use into Development Units so they're trying to get a feel for how much water/sewer the new mat might use (and yes, how much demand it will put on the system.)

Larry- in this small town, we pull customers from 25+ miles some days. Yes, they're already doing their wash inefficiently somewhere else, but that somewhere else is usually far away. If my 17 highly efficient washers all were to be used at once (and they are....often) Public Works needed to be sure there wouldnt be a significant pressure drop for the neighboring businesses and homes.

My issue is that there currently is no other laundry in my town. The last laundry that was here closed in the 70's. We sit 7 miles to the west of a town that has 2 and 7 miles to the north of town that has only 1. Both towns are about 3-4x larger than ours. My potential customers have little options to do their wash. The apartments in the area do not provide the service and those that have hook ups are few and far between. So, it appears I would be an additional user of the water system.

The town is requiring me to fill out a "Project Information Sheet". In addition to that they want 12 mo's water bills from 3 different operations listing the number of washing machines in each store.

I suppose I will have to another side of the "big city" we're located closed to and see if I can find 3 owners willing to share that information.

54% of my sewer bill and 13% of my water bill are for @#%&n' EPA mandates.
