This is my first summer in the coin laundry business. I have been told that the summer is the slowest season in the business. Percentage wise how much of a downturn should I expect.

It all depends where you are located. I find summers are somewhat above my yearly average- Jan-Feb is the slowest time for me.
This is my 1st summer in the laundry business as well.I too was told that business drops off in the summer.I'm in the south if that makes a difference. So far my sales have maintained earlier months figures, but I was truly hoping for an increase in business since we are getting in new customers.

Ditto everyone else - depends on where you are. My business falls by 30% in the summer

Business slows down somewhat for us during non-school year. What we have been
told it is because the parents wash the kids clothes less frequently during the summer.
When the kids go back to school the parents are more attentive in regards to keeping
their kids clothes clean.

I am in Florida, and as some other southern owners state, we get a surge of business from snow birds. From a reality standpoint, comforters, and other heavy clothing are not needed during the summer months. I only wear shorts, t-shirts and light clothes myself, and do less laundry as a result. Add it all up, and to me it is a 30% plus drop in biz for the summer months. Now, if you are near a camping area, or some sort of summer activity, then maybe the summer would be better.
