I have searched a lot but have not found an answer. I hope this Forum can help.

I have just purchased a Laundromat and would like to get the word out. I am thinking about putting Grand Re-Opening flyers in apartment buildings that are in surrounding area.

Is there a legal liability in putting such flyers?

Of course, apartment mgmt. having their own laundry facility would not like my flyers and see me as competitor. Can they legally ask me not to put flyers in their building? If they do, can I ignore, legally? The last thing I want is someone coming after me with a lawsuit.

Does anyone know of a work around for getting the word out to the apartment tenants?

Any input, suggestions, comments is greatly appreciated.

Use the yellow pages, sandwich boards great big black board with floaresant letters stateting whatever you wish W.D.F etc. We have made a our own flyer on the computer and have them on display in the mat for any body to take and tell friends about our W.D.F. and also on our street sign buisness has increased a great deal for us by doing this maybe this helps best of luck.

As far as I know the only serious legal liability is mailboxes. You can't put anything in a mailbox (shouldn't be a problem in apt building). Good luck

I think a good attorney could dig up something in the law books about keeping you off the premises if they wanted to. but the reality of it is if the manager does not want you there than it is better to leave. as far as a law suit sent to you after the fact I highly doubt that anyone would pursue this it would be very expensive to prove damages. if you get run off just be polite and go to the next. but bear in mind that most of your customers already know who you are as they surely knew it was for sale. I used this technique in the Pizza biz back 1993 in vegas it was very affective I hired college students to run the flyers, besure you check the local garbage cans for your flyers. kids will be kids.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments.

If the apartment buildings have "No Soliciting" signs, would putting flyers be considered soliciting?

And if I do it anyway, what should I expect?

Is there any another way to get the word out to apartment dwellers?

Supermarket register tape advertising is extremely affordable and gets you the most bang for your buck. The average household shops 2 and half times per week (mostly female). Thats nearly 10x per month that your ad will be placed into their hand (the only known adveritising venue that does that). Most supermarkets avg 10-15000 customers per week and spend big bucks in circulars to bring them in. You can piggyback off of their advertising budget for literally pennies per day. One of the major register tape ad companies is ADCART. Look'em up on the web.

Most people throw away direct mail. The supermarket register tape is the way to go, also try larger ads in local papers. What works will vary in different areas. Try talking to local merchants to see what they have done, and what they found works best.
