What brand of detergent do you use for the wash, dry fold service, for those that have it? Do you buy something in bulk or buy it at the store? Also, do you use fabric softener all the time or just when requested?

I use liquid Gain, Clorox if needed and Downey

Generally we use Gain powder (in bulk) for WDF - which is overwhelming what
customers requested. There are customers with special requests such as, Tide,
Tide Free, 7th Generation (all in bulk). There are customers that drop off baby
clothes so we also have Dreft. Although not requested very often we also include
bleach, downy or bounce upon request. We "NEVER" include bleach, downy or
bounce because some customers are allergic or don't like the feel of these
products. We'd like to use liquid Gain but it's harder to regulate its use. With
powder we make and provide each employee with 100 1/4cup baggies. Each
baggie is used for all size machines except the 50lb machines use 2 baggies.
They complete an inventory sheet that audits trails all WDF products. We buy
from "Sams" "Walmart" or order from our products distributor.

Millennium,
Can you buy these 1/4 cup baggies at Sams or did you just make them yourself?

We buy all our WDF bags from SAM's including the smallest size sandwich bags
which we reusue several times before they get thrown away. Providing each
employee their own inventory keeps them accountable and cuts down on
the "do-whatya-want- itus". Once we developed this system and
trained everyone using strict guidelines, our monthly cost for
WDF products was reduced by at least 3 times.

Mplus,
Seems like your WDF operation system is kind of complex. You must spend a lot of time doing tracking and auditing everyday with that much volume. I can see it that is too tedious work. I assume you include this administrative cost in your WDF price.
