What is the best way to clean the brown stains created by fabric softener in the back of the dryer drums?

Fabric softner is actualy a animal by-product, and you dryer is acting like a oven. the best thing that I have found that does not scratch the galivinized coating is Easy-off oven cleaner. Get the NO ODER one! Appily to drum let it sit for an hour and remove, use a wash cloth or somthing with some light scurbing abbility. Also use fresh water on each dryer pocket, and rinse twice. If you don't it will ech the metal. Over very little elbow greas and the drum looks new.

Mute point now, but do you think if had a stainless steel back of drum this would be easier to clean?

Im noy sure but I think that manufactures just started offering dryer drums in stainless. The same build up will happen to stainless, I don't know if the Easy-off will ech the stainless. All in all I think the stain less when clean will just look better and wouldn't be any easer to clean.

Easy-Off should be fine on stainless - BUT do not get it on anything Aluminum. It is caustic and will eat aluminum.

Howard do not have SS backs on drums although wish I did. Just have regular drums in new SQ dryer that I am assuming are galvanized. Would easy off work ok on these and does anyone else have any ideas on cleaning these stains? Thank you

I have have a friend that has a 7 year old SQ store that he had never cleaned the drums in and they look like new now.
