What do you do about customers who repeatedly, time after time wash and dry clothes and have pens in their pockets. (I am talking about the same customer not one of several) We have been sympathetic and soaked and rewashed for them but at some point do we say too bad? Charge them extra? What have you guys done when you run into this? Not only does it cost us money to rewash etc, but it takes time and labor to get the ink out of the machines before they can go back into service.
Thanks

I have another problem, similar but different. People use my machines and leave nails, screws, razor blades in their clothing. The nails and screws are the worst as they get in the holes in the washer and dryer drums and really screw up the drums. What can be done to stop this - its much more costly than rewashing some clothing, although I understand your problem.

If customers do their own washing it is up to them to check for pens etc. I may offer to remove the stains if they are small. I do not promise removal. I will try my best. It is not yttour problem it is their problem.

Howard, I have that problem as well as roofing and road tar and hair from animal's bedding. It is the price of running an unattended laundromat.

Unattended has nothing to do with it. You cannot have your attendant inspect everyones pockets. They catch it as soon as they hear a noise, but once a front loader is running its a little late to empty the pockets. :~{

TK-- if you know a customer does wash frequently with pens in the pocket, then tell him'her to clean them or be banned from the l'mat.
I would love to catch a person drying clothers that had tar or greese on them just once. I would have a police officer there to give them a no tresspass warant. You don;t need customers who screw up your biz.
I check my dryers fequently, almost every day looking for those screws, nails, etc that tear them up.
