I'm sure this has happened to a lot of you, but a first for me. Woman comes rollerblading into the store last night, and the cleaning person tells her, you can't rollerblade in the store. You'll have to take them off. Lady says, there's no sign in here that says you can't rollerblade. (Well, duh...isn't that common sense?) Cleaning person says, well, you can't. Lady says, OK. But next time, I'll just come in earlier when you're not here so I can roller blade. I'm pretty sure there's a sign in the center that says no roller blading, but still ... does there have to be a sign for everything?

Please, no slitting of wrists while in store.

Sheesh.

Suds,

You don't need signs to enforce your rules. When your attendant tells the girl that she can't rollerblade in the place, she's been legally informed and must abide by that rule going forward whether an attendant is on duty or not. No sign necessary.

I don't bother with alot of signs.
People with brains don't need them, and the stupid ones won't read them.

Main purpose of having signs is to point to them when you are throwing someone out the door for doing something stupid in the first place.

My main reason for 1/2 of my signage is to protect me in case of lawsuits. I don't expect customers to read them, but they are posted in clear english and spanish language in easy to see places around the store for my protection.

This is true. You'd be surprised how many people tried to convince me that it is perfectly fine. They even threaten me that they will call cops.

Usually though, if I tell people not to do something and they begin questioning, I tell them I am the owner. This usually settles the issue. :p
