What is the final word on Neptunes... I have heard some people say they are the best thing in the world (top load replacement) and I have heard others try them and pull them out...

People either swear by them, or swear at them.

I installed a dozen to help with conserving SAC charges. I expected they would do a lousy job of washing. I was wrong. The customers love them, great wash, great spinout. They are harder to keep clean than regular front loads. The soap dispenser collects detergent and softener in the crevices and has to be removed, four screws, to be cleaned. The perforations in the drum are very small so debris in the clothes sometimes doesn't rinse out. On the other hand, T-buckles don't get stuck in them.

I have not increased my price from top loads to the Neptunes because I am hoping the utilities savings will pay for the machines.

We purchased 18 Neptunes 4 years ago, which we distributed to 3 different laundromat locations. What a nightmare! We have replaced the pumps on every machine once, some twice or more. There have been many other problems with these machines. We currently have 14 of the machines out of order, waiting for tub bearing repairs. We are very disappointed in the repair record of these machines. We are ready to throw the machines out the door, and haven't finished financing them. Anyone else with similiar problems?

Dave you must have the MAH14 I have heard that they had problems ( first generation ) I bought 12 neptunes (mah20) 2 yrs ago and have had no problems yet and some of them average 6 turns a day. I just bought 5 more for an expansion The utilities are very low with them. So far the customers love them.

Yes indeed, I have the MAH14's. Could you elaborate about the problems you have heard. I swear by Maytag.........but I swear at these maytags!

My rep had told me that there where improvements made like larger pumps, door gasket drain different soap dispenserand some of the wiring has changed. Like I said mine have served me well you may want to think about upgrading to the newer ones. Maybe your distibutor will give you a good price to keep you using Maytags.

Gary - I have 8 of the newer model -20, about 8 months old. I have had 4 of the 8 experience tears in the front gasket, but no other problems of significance (ok, one bad door switch). Are your front gaskets(between the front panel and the drum) holding up?

The Mah14's give us sooooooooo many problems it is unreal. Door gasket, door switch, pumps and now bearings. We are replacing tub and bearings. Out of 18 we have,16 are out of service. We are awaiting help from our distributer. He is to bring all the parts needed, and some elbow grease to help fix them. But, they do not hold up that Maytag name by any means. We are positive there must be others out there who purchased the first wave of these machines, and they too must be having similiar problems. We heard the mah20 is a much better machine, with little or no problems. But they too are new, and our problems didn't start until ours were about 18 mos old.

So far no problems at all other than when they were brand new I had 3 pumps that where noisey but thats been it. 12 of the 17 I have are two years old and the 4 closest to the front door do 6 to 7 turns a day 7 days a week. The problem your having I think can be one of two things. Loads are to small and going out of balance alot ( tell your customers they run best 90% full ) or your out of balance circut is not working. I think there are 4 switches to detect out of balance and the machine will shut down after 4 atempts to spin out.

I have had 3 Neptune Mah20's in my laundry for 3 years now. My supplier just sold me another one and included 2 Mah14's for parts. The 14's look good and run great! I stuck them in my laundry. My washers average 2 turns a day so hopefully I don't have all these crazy issues. I have also been picking up the residential models for parts. I will let you know if I have issues.
