Has anyone had any experience with using a 3rd party electric supplier. Here in NJ, the law has changed, and anyone can now use any electric company they choose, instead of using the local power provider. I have had many different companies both solicit in my store and through the mail about saving up to 10% on electric supply charges, just by switching.

I am asking if anyone has switched to a 3rd party supplier, and did you really save $$$, Thanks for any input

I have done it for gas for years, but never bothered with electric. Yes you can save, but read the fine print and understand what you are really getting as there is a lot of fraudulent claims for savings. Some of these companies quote a price without taxes, and when you factor them in it may actually cost you more. Others only lock the rate for a short time and then it can float above the utility - if you are careful you can save.
