I have an older store that I'm redoing slowly. It's equiped with old evap type coolers, they work very well when the humidity is down but when it gets steamy outside you might as well turn them off. I'm tossing the idea around of putting in a.c. but I'm afraid of the cost of running it. I have about 2500 sq. ft. to cool. I have 3 evap units, 2 side mount and one big roof mnt. and they keep it cool, but not dry. The humidity can stay over 80% most of the summer here. Does anybody have any comparison costs, or how much it costs to run a.c.?

Figure on 75 percent more than your bill is now, while using the AC. We set ours at 78 degrees. We are constantly closing doors behind customers...... We too have a store with the evap coolers and we too have the humidity problem, the terrazza floor even gets moist.
If you have competion, AC may sway new customers to you. We added AC in a larger store, customers really like it. If you are remodeling, see about the double pane windows to help. Good luck
