We are going to convert our Mat from unattended to fully attended. We are in California and would like a few referrals for Worker's Comp Insurance.
Thank you.

IIRC the CLA Insurance program doesn't do WC since it's so location-specific, but that would sure be where I'd start... Give Ruby a call and see if she can't point you in the right direction.
You might also consider hiring your first batch of employees through a local employment company (AKA: Temp agency)... I use a company locally that does everything from posting job openings to drug/background screening to providing WC and UI coverage. They do this for whatever the hourly wage paid equals plus a small markup. So if I'm paying the employee $9.25 per hour, I pay Cardinal, say, $10.02 per hour. I've searched this state high and low and I can't find WC premiums that low anywhere, let alone the payroll service, applicant screening and drug testing, etc. I know they've got MUCH better rates based on a high volume of employees.

Okay, I stand corrected... CLA does handle work comp. Seems it's time to get a new quote as the insurance world is ever-changing!

-CaseDoesn't seem like it would be worth the hassle to me to find better workman's comp insurance, etc., if all you're paying is 77 cents an hour for all the service. ... as long as they're delivering the possibility of a decent employee.

Nick-
Nope... not worth the hassle at all. I absolutely LOVE my employment service. Actually, truth be known, I have a history of not getting along well with employees... I'm a big "if you want it done right, do it yourself" kinda guy, and NOBODY does things the way I would do them. Having the employment service working for/with me allows me to step back and watch the BUSINESS, not the employees.
Now, the liability insurance is a whole different animal. I'm coming into my renewal season in a few months, and I'll definitely be shopping the CLA coverage first. I hear they've got some new carriers available that I didn't have access to the last few years, so I, for one, am planning on taking as much advantage as possible of that particular member benefit.

You might also look into http://www.hrallencs.com/business-services/
They shop around several companies for you to get you a quote. I use them for my Payroll service and love their service. My wife just contacted them yesterday to get WC quotes for here 2 businesses.
