This one is driving me crazy. When you put in the money, then hit the start button, the tub won't turn. The blower motor turns just fine. I can usually spin the tub by hand, close the door, then it will turn normally when I push the start button.
I've checked the lint trap and door switches. I replaced the ice cube relay with a known good one from another machine. I also swapped the whole timing mechanism with another machine. The belt is good.
It seems to me that the tub motor isn't getting the signal to go all of the time. Any suggestions?
On my Dexter dryers this problem has been solved by replacing the start capacitor which is located on the side of the motor. Two bolts hold it in place. I switched the capacitor with a good one from another dryer and problem solved.
Cool, thanks for the help. I figured there was some sort of relay or something that was causing the problem. I'll swap the start capacitor with another machine to see if that fixes it.
I have a pretty basic & affordable Fluke 12 multimeter that comes in handy for checking the mfd reading between the two capacitor leads to make sure it matches what is written on the capacitor. The label usually also states the acceptable plus or minus mfd tolerance.
