Pro's and Con's of Soap Hoppers.....

what are the pros and cons of the soap hoppers being on the top of the machine (i.e. most fronloaders) and on the side of the machine (i.e. Horizon) ???

i'm interested in the hopper being on the front of the machine, as I'm observing some people having difficulties trying to put detergents into the hopper on those big washers.

sooner or later, ADA may require machines to be compliance?

an issue I see with hopper in the front is that some customers may not close it all the way, so water may come out in the spinning cycle.

didn't look in details, but does the front hopper click/lock when you push it back in?

I would expect the front-mounted soap dish to be fragile. A customer would be likely to slide it out and then lean on it, or bump into it and break it off. But you're probably correct in thinking that the top-mounted soap tray will some day be made obsolete by some amendment of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I have one regular customer who visits my store in a wheelchair. She cannot reach the top-mounted soap tray, and cannot reach the coin slot on my tallest front-loaders or the control panel on my top-loaders. But she always comes during the hours that we are attended, and gets assistance as needed.

I have both the front pull out bad choice in 3 weeks of owning three front pulls have been pulled apart 2 soap trays have been jammed into the cabinet I had to pry them open broke one doing that, . soap spills running down front of washer requires constant clean up. HOWEVER my dexter 80lb have SS front fill box and that is a good thing very smart,

I also have a regular customer who uses a motorized wheel chair. I noticed her using a 40 lb Huebsch washer (mounted on a 6" high base) the other day. She didn't require any assistance with anything including putting soap in the top mounted dispenser.

These Huebsch dispensers are almost trouble-free. Once in a while, a siphon tube (that siphons the fabric softener into the washer) will become plugged. It then must be removed (without tools) and rinsed out in the sink. We clean maybe 1 siphon tube per month.

Why are you worrying about ADA when you do not even live here in the States?!

Doesn't your country have its own laws?

if you haven't noticed, a lot of countries do follow the foot steps of the #1 country
there are ADA here as well, just not yet that complicated as in USA

regarding ADA, unless you're in their shoes you won't understand why it's required. I still remember clearly to these days a course I took in school regarding ADA; the course was required to graduate, and many students had to do many times. the main part was just a project that you put yourself in a wheelchair and go through the obstacles around the whole campus, or where the professor put on your route. it's the most memorable course in my life, and ever since then I think about ADA on all my projects. most normal people don't understand, nor care about ADA .....just thought I share that with you all
