Huebsch 50lb extractor- load on spin

Hello,
I am new to the laundromat business and learning. I have a problem I am hoping someone can help me with.

I have a problem with my 50lb extractor Huebsch. It is very loud only on spin. We change out the overload contactor (this requires us to change to new spin and auxillary contactor). When we changed the contactor, first time would not spin and skip spin cycle. We test the machine again, it burn the contactor out. Could anyone please tell me what the problem is? I do not want to waste money on buying more contactors only to have it burn out again.

Check and make sure you are getting the proper voltage to all terminals of the spin contactor. If you are getting the proper voltage on all phases to the spin contactor and the contactor is good there is problem with the motor. Take it to the motor shop and get them to check the windings.

I am completely new to the industry. Could you please tell me how to check the motor and if you could recommend a good motor shop in Florida?

When you say very loud what do you mean? Does it sound like a freight train coming down the tracks - if so it is probably a bearing issue. Burning out contactors that quickly sounds like a short. Have you tried using a multimeter to figure out what is going on?

Hello,
Yes, it sounds like the machine is off balance when you load a top loader wrong (kind of like that). I tried moving the basket to check the bearing and it does not even budge. It sounds a little different from squeaky sound of bearing.

Possible wrong voltage contactor?
Did you try putting the old one back in, if it was working?
"Loud Noise" on high speed spin is usually bad bearings, motor or Drum, most likely drum.
How old is washer?
Why did you think of changing out the contactor in the first place?

I saw it on one of the posts on line that because of a bad overload contactor the prongs not completely working, it will make the motor strain and be loud.

I think the machine is about 10 years old. I am hoping it is not motor since it looks like it costs a lot. Usually how long does a motor lasts and where is a good place for motor. We just got this place and trying to control the costs.

Take the belts off the washer and see if you can spin the motor by hand( be sure power to the washer is turned off) , then try to turn the cylinder pulley by hand. You are trying to figure out what has the washer locked up. It is one or the other, motor or cylinder. Once you figure out that part , then we can tell you how to proceed.

Yes, what made you go to the relay first? Was the drum locked up or was it spining and making loud noise?
