I do not understand why coin acceptor ,coin mech cost so much in laundromat business ,I found this very similar to Dexter ,some IPSO coin mech in video game dealer website for a lot less ,I never use it for washer ,they look very similar but cost a lot less .

Galaga,
Your very understandable post for those of us who are interested ... was like a "breath of fresh air"! It shows what our value driven "vision for the future" should include. The fact that it comes from someone with a wealth & depth of experience such as yourself ... makes it even more meaningful! For the naysayers to say there is not a need for proper distribution of the dollar coins option for our industry is simply not healthy!!! To let them dominate our CLA discussions means that not enough of us are paying attention &/or we choose to not make the honest effort of correcting them ... at our own peril.

Side comment related yes ... hijack of post no.
Having used about "quantity 10" of tens of thousands of "USA made"
comparative coin mechs in my self service car wash with almost "zero" jams & "zero conterfeits" ... it is good to hear from someone else besides myself. By almost "zero" jams we are talking about ... honest injun ... less than five times during the entire over 25 years of actual experience!!! There were only two of the coin mechs that failed & the company has a great reputation & proven track record of repairing reasonably ... as in less than $60 cost after the full 2 year warranty period was up!
Is that USA company & other comparative manufacturers going to run after us to size them & tool up their assembly line so they fit in our retrofit openings such as Suzy's need? No more likely than the general public is going to go to unreasonable lengths to get dollar coins rather than the totally easy to receive heavier in dollar value quarters. Our elected Congress is asking a bit too much risk if they think that those manufacturers should "tool up" first. In my humble opinion ... job, quality of life, & economy enhancing is at stake.
JH (John),
Once a coin mech is made small enough, then any polycarbonate reverse printed faceplate can be easily done at very little cost. The adaptor required ... consists of a simple npn or pnp voltage signal or relay tailored to the whatever device the manufacturer needs ... definitely not overly hi tech. We are living proof ... that the interface should not be the obstacle. A properly crimped quick disconnect also would be helpful but not absolutely necessary. When I was at the CLA regional in Mpls-St. Paul about a year & a half ago the manufacturers graciously showed me the insides of the variety of new equipment on display & it sure looked like Molex Jr quick disconnects to me that they had standardized within their equipment.
