Circuit Breakers - Federal Pacific

Since I was somewhat "tongue in cheek" suggesting to rush to change to even more costly breaker protection ... the above link should be a consideration. The very feisty inspector for our new self service dog wash was impressed by our use of fuses for almost every wire segment. We lucked out that the GFCI requirement on even the below 40 Volts did not create a problem with any of the sophisticated electronics.

Another thought, the person buying the used breakers could have a facility like many of us ... with all concrete block non flammable walls & wiring 100% in metal conduit. That could be a consideration for an operator who has a Fed Breaker Panel that shows no sign of burnt sockets or wires internally. I notice our yearly inspector firemen ... when they inspect they run their fingers down my Square D breakers checking for potential warmth.

Chris ... out of curiosity, can you share with us what the electrician charged you to replace your whole panel? Since inspectors can be particular about splices in the panel box ... were all your wires still long enough ... did any conduit have to be repositioned? How many breakers were in the old panel?

There is one manufacturer who makes circuit breakers for Pacific Federal. Thai is Connecticut Electric UBIF series. I have replaced many of them in the last few years.
Home Depot and Lowes carry these.

In the neighborhood of 3K. Had to shut down for the day. Lost some business. But I handed out stamped business cards with my signature on them. Good for a free wash, any size. The majority came back to see me and claim their prize, which I was very happy to give.

Most of my previous electrical problems are now gone. Previous work was very poorly done. Also had to relocate 15ft of gas line. Believe it or not, it ran right over the electrical conduits going into the Fed Pac panel. Yikes.

That was a very smart thing to do. It's plain old good customer relations.
No matter how many signs you put up beforehand telling your customers that you'll be closed, quite a few inevitably show up on the workday.

I think you'll find that more will show up with your cards over the next week or so. Probably close to all.
