100 years and going....
Just returned from my Aunt's 100th BD party in Denver, CO. This gal is down home tough. Has great stock hearing, eye sight off a bit so she uses glasses, perfect posture, super long term memory with a little short term loss, great outlook, lots of good friends but most of the local family has passed on, short of strength but gets around...must be 5 ft tall and 90 lbs....says she always has been. Born in Denver and never moved out. The Mayor set aside 19 Jun 12 as her day in Denver. Among her accomplishments...1st base for the 1941 all star championship team, several tennis awards, an award for jumping in and saving a kid from drowning in a drainage ditch, and raised her severe special needs child until he was 60. I noted that most people feel younger than their years at 40 / 50 / 60....and asked if it was the same at 100. She said no, you don't have that feeling that you could do the things you did when you were 90. Auntie is a gold mine of memories from my grandparents right up thru our lives. Les
