opening/closing store

Hi,
We are new to this as potential investors and looking to buy an existing mat in Orange County, CA. Who typically opens and closes the laundrymat every day? I understand this business requires being on site for a few hours a day, at least, but does this time frame include being there early morning/late night to open and lock up, or is there another way? thanks for any help!

mines' on auto lock, so auto open and auto close. the next door neighbor often check to make sure it's lock.

really, it doesn't seem matter whether it's open 24 or not

some people will do what they want to do whether you lock or open.

it's a bit hectic of a business, got a few calls when i'm more than 8 hours away. so no way am i flying in to attend just because a coin got stuck

good business, but not as easy as the distributors make it to be.
you better trusting those on this forum than trusting the distributors.

Auto-locks are an option. Tried it and didn't like the non-close that occurs when someone wedges the door open. Most stores will auto-open in the morning if an owner or staff member cleans/closes at night.

Employee open/close is another option. Tried it and didn't like the excessive payroll.

iPhone/Android/remote access to alarm and locking systems are becoming common now too... you could do a "supervised auto-lock" by remotely accessing security cameras to see if all was closed and quiet, then remotely triggering the locks/alarms.

My solution? Stay open 24/7. There's just enough business in my market to justify it and it gives a marketing edge that nobody else in the region offers.
