Larry & others,
LOL ... That'll leeerrn that guy & probably a few of the rest of us!!! Are you paying attention Kim & other ladies???
This might be more common than we think on large plate glass that is extra clean & clear. You listed just one of many potential distractions. Plus it could have been potentially a situation of a truly visually handicapped person ... except then we might really be in trouble since he was headed to drive away in his car!
When I was involved in presenting a visualization for our church renovation ... some fellow churchgoers somehow got the impression that I was a "go to guy" on any deficiencies (gulp). Long story short ... there was a plate glass that several people approached me at once ... explaining that they felt it was a serious hazard. It was solved almost immediately by the staff with putting a small sculpture on a mantel in front of it. In the case of the CLOSED door ... I am not so sure of the proper solution.
Accommodating "Service Dogs" for the handicapped aren't the only little subtle things we should pay attention to. BTW, the service dog idea does actually makes sense & is worthwhile in my opinion. I could be a bit biased though having ownership in a "dog wash". One of our best customers is a dog that follows a maintenance man all day while he is working at a nearby nursing home.
