Who produces most reliable machines out there?

Hi everyone,

Question:
How is Maytag equipment in general? Especially if it's 10+ years old? Are they maintenance intensive, and/or low quality and inefficient? Trying to find out whether or not to upgrade the stuff so that I can save money long term on utility costs, as well as maintenance.

Also, if you don't like Maytag, which brand has the best reliability, tech support and efficiency for the money invested? Looking for the best total ROI here.

Use the search function on this forum and you will find this question to be asked many times with the same basic answers.

Some like one brand for the price, others like another for the tech support and some like other brands for ........

One thing that has been agreed on is that the distributor is the key to most brands.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Yes, I've read through all the threads here over the last couple of weeks.. I saw that Wascomat is a favorite of many people here because of tech support. But, then I've heard from other people Speed Queen is most efficient and reliable of all brands from this forum, and people around here who own laundromats. So, I guess I'm just trying to get a general consensus. Then I hear Maytag. It gets a bit confusing when you hear 3 different favorites. I wish there was a clear cut "Toyota" name that is the best bang for the buck in Laundry equipment.. Well, all your feedback is much appreciated!

I agree with Duane of course. He's got a bunch of Maytag and has had very few problems, I've got a bunch of Dexter and have had very few problems also (I've also got some Maytag and Speed Queen and don't have problems with them either). There is no one answer to your question. I would suggest distributor is important and also do not buy first generation of new models (just like in autos).

I think some of the reliability goes into how the machines are installed, setup and maintained in your store also. I wouldn't try and cut corners there.

Thanks for the feedback azkid! I guess I'll have to investigate this purchase a little better.

By the way, does anyone know a strong lender for purchasing existing stores? I've read about SBA, but heard it can take for ever. Does anyone know of possibly a lender who will lend for an existing store with decent rate/terms?
