I have been looking to replace my VHS based surveillance system with one of this digitial based systems from closeoutcctv.com. Does anyone have any experience with these systems? What features are really necessary? Does it pay to have a DVD backup? Is the Anti-Pixel Technology really worth the additional cost? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased mine from them. Works great. I have not had a need to use the DVD back up yet. But it is there. Resolution is good. Would buy again.

How big is your mat? Are you using the 4 or 8 camera system? Did you purchase the Entry or Professional Level Series?

I got the 4 camera system with internet access from there, love it,I do a lot of traveling and can see laundry anytime. Mine holds 7 days which is fine. their support was great and helped me install with no other help. I got the package for 499.00.

I bought the professional series with 4 cams. They did not have the other one back then.
But next month i will buy the entry level 4 cam system that way i can have two systems running at the same time. That way if one ever goes down i have a back up!

How are the images when viewing the video remotely? Can you use them to identify people (eyes, hair color, facial features) if you had a breakin or theft?

I posted a lengthy reply to this question on another thread, search my ID. For a good system you need many cams of different FOV lens to get what you want, IE, the color of their eyes, etc. An off the shelf 3.6 cam system will not be sufficient to really be of help in an real theft attempt. I use regular computers, buy DVR cards, Geovision, and set cams at places and FOV lenses for what I want to see. Some is trial and error. Min system should be 12 cams, some inside, some outside, some close up views at important things, like the bill changer and front door.
