Hi---I just bought my laundromat about 4 months ago. Am anxious to grow the business thru commercial accounts and pick/up delivery service. Any ideas are appreciated.

Welcome I just had the manager of a fairfield inn that is 5 miles away from my mat. He stopped in he was referred by one of his guest that uses my wdf service . He wants to set up with us a service where he will bring in his roomers clothes as a courtesy to them . So you might drop off your bus. cards to hotel motel around you. I personally would not offer pick up and delivery. requires too much effort on my part.

There is good money in pickup/delivery service if you establish enough commercial accounts, however, check into your workers compensation insurance first. Our insurance company said that offering pickup/delivery would re-classify our business into a much higher rate.

Something to consider if you are just starting out, try building your drop-off wash and fold business first. Once that is built up, then expand into pickup/delivery.

Hey I came across this post in another thread and thought it would be pretty helpful to most. Not sure where your business is located but if you are close to any universities this might help bring in new customers? Plus internet marketing is easy and free most of the time.

Welcome my Garden State neighbor. Be patient. I was told that any change made to a laundromat will take about 6 months to see any results. I have found this to be true.

In response to the idea about marketing to college students, there is a site I've seen that may work. It is uloop.com

Also, regarding serving commercial businesses from a coin operated laundromat, I've seen a woman who provided laundry services to local bed and breakfast/small hotels. She made her pricing competitive compared to doing this work onsite so she kept her machines full and could afford a full time staff person to run this side business.
