Just an observation ... if our congress & prez did do both the above simultaneously, it would not be as likely that they would be accused of being being bought by the mining industry. Like the article said, the other countries' transitions were pretty mellow with significant gains & just reflected proper adjustment for inflation that already happened & continues to happen. In my opinion, good government's constitutional role is to properly adjust the medium of exchange so it is optimized for both its business people & citizens.
For a tiny amount of red tape, it seems like bill acceptor car wash operators like myself & bill acceptor VTM laundry operators could have the redundancy of both dollar coins & limited paper one dollar notes. I hope that the response to that is not some
false & misleading statement saying that bill acceptors don't jam as much as better quality coin mechs!
All of us 100% unpaid lobbyists could be more effective if we would be unified in our support for that kind of scenario. Sure it would be a bit different than the path the other countries have taken ... but it would address the extreme wastefulness of the paper cost for the most part ... & could be a healthy compromise ... if done with the proper guidelines & oversight over the Federal Reserve.
For the sake of our country ... based on the better facts & the greatest savings & commerce enabling ... the dollar coin should have priority.
