Wow that was exhausting.
(Not so much, bring your change and go straight to the machine or bring your dollars and go changer to machine.)
Why put customers through this maze?
(No maze...if we had a maze we would need to add cheese. The changer is conveniently located near the equipment.)
You can claim that quarters are the best way to run a store.

MODERATION TEAM – I don’t intend this to be a coin versus card debate and would urge respondents not to discuss in-house cards and would appreciate moderators moving any post about in-house card systems as that is not what this thread is about. Thanks.

I like the SpyderWash theory. It allows the customer to start the equipment the way the customer wants to.
I'm looking foward to the Spyderwash system to incorporate the in-store token card. Then you really can leaverage the marketing side of the card system and still allow coins, cash, debit, credit and card.
Yes, you have the disadvantages of BOTH coin and cards.
Yes, you have the advantages of BOTH coin and cards.
PS, I currently have dual drops (quarter and dollars).

Hello Laundryboy2,
The SpyderWash System does also allow the use of a loyalty type card besides using coin, credit or debit card. Check us out at www.setomaticsystems.com or feel free to call us at 516-752-8008.
Thanks,
Michael

Larry you are still advocating the elimination of the paper dollar and most of us here cannot and will not accept that.
Further while the use of a dollar coin in addition to the quarter is probably a good approach for those that want to minimize customer frustration, it is a very very very (did I get enough of them in) bad idea for most stores. It is plain stupid to have a system where your price adjustments are limited to such a large proportion of your selling price. Please give us examples of three or four other businesses that are stupid enough to do that. No I am not saying you are stupid, it works for you, but would likely kill most.
As for high priced stores, I was much higher priced than you but still found lots of value in being able to make small changes in pricing.

Howard,
I didn't know that you were appointed spokesman for "most of us here".

This issue has been debated to death. I have nothing more to say about it.

Your water/sewer rate was about 4 times mine so I didn't have to be quite as high priced as you although I was pretty darn close. So you made changes in small amounts and I made them in larger amounts ... that doesn't make me a bad person ... or an unsuccessful operator ... or an unprofitable operator. What it makes me is a HAPPY operator who is having FUN running my laundromat.

No Larry I am not the spokes person for most of us, I am not advocating against a product that most here use - the dollar bill, but you continue to lobby against it which is against everyone's interest so you are the one that is trying to be the spokesman for what is right and what is wrong. Others have tried to point this out to you but you just won't accept it -- its got to be your way or it is the wrong way.

Howard,
Once again, I speak only for myself. I have a right to my opinion on the issue of the 4 year phase out and I have a right to express that opinion to anyone who wants to read my posts. So get over it!
By the way, I use the dollar bill too.

Well that is fine, if it were true. But you advocate that as an industry we should lobby for the elimination of the dollar bill. As long as you disavow that then we have no issue.
Personally I think the government should eliminate the dollar coin and the penny and print more two dollar bills. That would probably save the most money as each two dollar bill would eliminate the need for two one dollar bills and further slim my wallet.

Howard,
If I want to express my view that the dollar bill should be phased out and urge others to see the wisdom of that; I don't see what the problem is. Yes, this industry SHOULD lobby Congress for the phase out of the dollar bill. That's my opinion.
