Turning a pressure switch screw COUNTER-clockwise should raise the water level. Conversely, turning it clockwise should lower the level.
You can turn a screw counter-clockwise for one full turn and see what happens.
Since you turn it one full turn, and you get a bad result, all you have to do is to turn it back, and try another screw....one at a time, taking note as to what you have done so you can reverse it, if need be.
Usually, a 1/4 turn will raise the water 1" from my experience, so a full turn should make you see a very noticeable difference.
Which screw?
On my washers, the screw on the right (with the air hose facing down) will control the low water level. The one on the left does the high water level.
