The Coin Laundry Association is pleased to announce a new affiliate, the Iowa Self-Service Laundry Association. Daryl Johnson of St. Ansgar, Iowa is the new president. He has been in the coin laundry business for five years and owns three stores – two in Iowa and a third in Minnesota.
“Daryl exemplifies what the CLA looks for in leaders,” said Brian Wallace, CLA president and CEO. “From managing the newly formed Iowa affiliate to reaching out to state representatives, he is working for the betterment of the industry and its customers.”
Johnson was selected for the role of president based on his stature within the community and efforts to repeal the 7 percent sales tax that laundry customers pay. Johnson has worked successfully with Iowa Senator David Johnson to introduce a bill into the state senate on this very issue.
“This tax not only hurts small businesses, it actually hurts the people in the state of Iowa who are least able to afford that additional tax,” Johnson said.
Other members of the ISLA Board of Directors include: Todd Santoro, Omaha, Neb.; Scott Creech, Newton; John Glaza, Sioux City; Brian DeCoster, Iowa City; and Randy Krohn, Des Moines.
