Industry veteran Howard Herman is celebrating his 40th year with Laundrylux, distributor of Wascomat and Electrolux Professional laundry equipment. Herman started out in the warehouse and worked his way up to company president, learning every aspect of the business.
“Howard has been a mentor to me and a guiding force at Laundrylux,” shared CEO Neal Milch. “Customers, distributors and other industry players rely on his knowledge and constantly seek out his advice and guidance. He is quite possibly the most knowledgeable and competent person in his field today. He has tremendous dedication, drive and a true commitment to the industry. We rely on his expertise and keen insight every day.”
Well-respected throughout the laundry industry, Herman also currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Coin Laundry Association.
“Howard has been an industry leader and a staunch supporter of Coin Laundry Association for decades,” said CLA President and CEO Brian Wallace. “As a member of the CLA’s Board of Directors, Howard is volunteering his time and talents to growing both the association and the industry overall. He brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the Board, and all CLA members benefit from his contributions. All of us at the CLA join the industry in congratulating Howard on a fantastic 40 years!”
To honor the milestone, Neal Milch threw a surprise party, with the entire Laundrylux team celebrating in style at the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach, N.Y.
Industry pioneer Bernard Milch, now retired from Laundrylux, and his wife Lusia were in attendance, as well as Neal’s wife Lesley. In addition, Herman’s wife of 45 years, Terry, and grown children Laurie and Harris, along with their spouses and Howard’s grandchildren, also took part in the festivities.
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served rooftop, followed by dinner at a seaside banquet hall. Neal Milch gave a heartfelt tribute, and then long-time Laundrylux employee Dan Goldman emceed a good-natured roasted of the company president.
“I can’t believe how fast 40 years has flown by,” Herman said. “I still love being in the laundry business, and I truly enjoy the work, the people and the challenges we face every day. I was extremely touched that the Milch family, my family and all of the Laundrylux employees were there to celebrate with me. It was a terrific surprise, and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.”
